Progress Portsmouth

About

The difference between where we are and where we want to be is wrapped up in knowledge that we have yet to acquire.  We gain it through reading and mentors.  As I cruise the web and a few good books, I hope to share a little that will encourage Progress Portsmouth.

What’s the word on making Chillicothe Street more attractive to SSU students? Can Portsmouth be a college town? It certainly has a working layout for it. And the charm. And the university.

Chillicothe St can be a lively place, lots of good ideas floating around. I look at our present situation like an ember waiting for a puff of air to ignite. Once it starts, believe it will grow like mad. But back to earth, it is all about the numbers as well. Demographics, target markets, retail leakage, discretionary income, workplans, whose got it, and who doesn’t. So hopefully somewhere between the dreams and reality we will find the niche that works for Portsmouth.

YOUR AD SAYS THAT PORTSMOUTH CITY RESIDENTS TAXES WILL NOT GO UP FOR THE JUSTICE CENTER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU ARE TELLING THE CITIZENS THAT THEIRE TAXES HAVE ALREADY GONE UP 3.1 MILLS TO COVER THE NEW FIRE TRUCK THAT THE CITY BOUGHT.

You may want to check out http://www.progressportsmouth.org for details about the city/justice center project. There are statements form the city solicitor that address your question.
