I was working outside Saturday morning when my wife asked what my plans were for the day. As usual I replied “not sure, why?” She thought that some family time was in order after several long days this past week, and suggested we head to town.
Isn’t that what we want? People and families of all types to “head to town” for fun and entertainment. It seemed like that was the case Saturday as the streets and shops were busy with the associated traffic from the Portsmouth River Days. How can we duplicate this level of activity on our streets every weekend?
As Main Street Portsmouth President, it seems a lot of stock was put into our young organization to quickly make things happen, and I would like that as well. We are working on activities for 2009 that, though they might not have a huge instant impact, will build sustainable strength for our downtown. Any suggestions? Feel free to comment here.
TIP: I spent the day spending birthday money downtown. A great way to buy local.
